So for the time-crunched, we have included the top ten BlackBerry shortcuts and speed features that will keep your fingers flying.

 1.       Selecting text on a page: Press the Shift key and then move the wheel up or down.

2.       Scrolling: Spacebar will scroll down the page, and pressing Shift and the space bar together will scroll up.

3.       Get better radio reception: Turn your radio off and then on again to force a scan of the network.

4.       Dial vanity phone numbers more easily: Dial 1-800-Mix-A-Lot faster by pressing Alt and then typing the letters instead of the numbers.

5.       Speed dial special characters: If you press and hold any letter key, you can use the thumb wheel to select the character you want.

9.       Dry out your BlackBerry if it gets wet: You can put the BlackBerry in a bowl of rice, in a box with some silica packets (like the kind that come with new shoes) or submerge it in alcohol and then take it apart to let it air dry.

10.   Get Google Apps for BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES): The latest productivity booster is the seamless integration of Google Apps with your BlackBerry, including 60 second push send and deliver.

Considerations when Installing Outlook in a Terminal Services Environment

By using Microsoft® Windows® Terminal Services, you can use Microsoft Office Outlook® 2003 without having to upgrade every computer in your organization. Users can work in the latest Microsoft Office 2003 environment even when their computers have limited hard disk space, memory, or processing speed.

Windows Terminal Services allows you to run Microsoft Windows-based programs on a server and display them remotely on client computers. For example, you can install a single copy of Outlook 2003 on a Windows Terminal Services computer. Then, instead of running Outlook locally, multiple users can connect to the server and run Outlook from there.

However, there are some limitations to be aware of. For example, you cannot use Outlook with Cached Exchange Mode when you run Outlook on Windows Terminal Services. Also, to help provide the best supported Outlook experience for your users in a Terminal Services environment, pay special attention to managing Outlook features that might adversely affect performance.

Outlook features that are disabled with Terminal Services

The following Outlook features cannot be used when you are running Outlook in a Terminal Services environment:

  • Offline store (OST) files.Features that rely on the OST (for example, Cached Exchange Mode and Offline) are not supported with Terminal Services.
  • Forms Designer and the Microsoft Visual Basic® Scripting Edition (VBScript) editor. You can view a custom form, but you cannot design a new form or revise an existing form.
  • Changing the Time Zone from within Outlook.Changing this setting in Outlook updates a system setting.
  • Changing Zone security settings from within Outlook.Changing this setting in Outlook updates a system setting.
  • Changing the status of a Microsoft Exchange Client Extension. You cannot change the status; however, if the Exchange Client Extension is already on, it should work correctly.
  • Adding stationery that was not included with Outlook as part of the Terminal Services installation.
  • Outlook animations are disabled.Examples of Outlook animations include Send/Receive animation and the Search Folder creation icon.

SPAM: How much is it costing you in lost time and productivity?

spam1.jpg

Exchange My Mail has processed 12,310,644 email messages between July 15th 2009, and August 15th 2009. ( 31 Days )

Of those 12,310,644 messages, 4,495,043 were classified as blatant spam and deleted. Another 2,358,516 messages were flagged as spam, and sent to customers quarantine. Our customers received a total of 5,430,881 messages in their inbox, thus preventing hours upon hours of wasted time sorting though over 6.8 million spam messages. This translated into millions of dollars saved by our customers in lost time and productivity.

One domain received a total of 248,062 messages for the same 31 day period. Of those messages, 130,319 messages were flagged as blatant spam and deleted or quarantined. The remaining 117,743 messages were delivered to the mailboxes on the domain.

How much is spam costing your company? Google unveiled a nifty little calculator to help you add it up.

Once you quantify how much spam is costing your company, it makes sense to re-evaluate the IT options for managing spam. The first, and perhaps biggest, decision is whether to keep spam filtering in-house or use a hosted service. It can be difficult to add up the true expenses of each solution. On the surface, the cost of an appliance may seem reasonable, but the up-front costs are just the beginning in a complete cost-of-ownership calculation.

Exchange My Mail has always provided enterprise grade spam and virus protection to all customers at no additional cost. We partnered with Postini to offer their advanced spam and virus protection because we understand how important it truly is.

All of our Hosted Exchange plans come complete with Postini spam and virus protection, ActiveSync, and a free copy of Outlook 2007 or entourage 2008 for each user. Unlike our some of our competition we don’t nickle and dime our customers for every little thing.

Our Unmatched support is the reason for the amount of customer referrals we receive each day. Our customers are confident in our service and support that they are happy to refer friends and colleagues to us day after day.

Review our Ratepoint rating, and see for yourself.

Service Provider Solutions Category

MS-CATALOG Exchange My Mail has finally been added to the Microsoft Service Provider Solutions Category on the Microsoft Website.
We have a listing in the Hosted Exchange section.

In order to be listed in the directory, companies must meet certain requirements, which to be honest seem to vary depending on who you talk to.There are minimum requirements that must be met; Microsoft Gold Partner, member of SPLA licensing program, and report a minimum amount of revenue to Microsoft. In addition, you must meet minimum requirements of adding several hundred new mailboxes each month. This is to show that the company is continually adding new customers, and will be a viable partner with Microsoft.

We are extremely excited about finally being listed, as we have been working on this for quite some time now. Our understanding is that this new service provider portal will be replacing the legacy system which had been in place for a few years now. Our dedication to Microsoft Exchange, and it’s related services cannot be compared. As of this writing, Hosted Exchange is the company’s main focus. We don’t get bogged down with web hosting, pop mail servers, CRM, VPS servers etc. All of those items have their place in the industry, and maybe some day we will begin to offer those. But for now, Exchange My Mail continues to focus on Hosted Exchange 2007 and stay dedicated to it core business.

Our customers appreciate this dedication to one specific niche as we have been extremely successful at acquiring new customers, and adding mailboxes. Our dedicated sales and support teams can stay focused on Microsoft Exchange and all of it’s benefits without the need to draw away their attention to other systems. This has given Exchange My Mail a distinct advantage over all of our competition.

AT&T Starts BlackBerry Bold Employee Training

According to several resources, AT&T has already started training their employees on the BlackBerry Bold.  RIM which is usually quite about new products before launch has offered much more insight this time.

With the BOLD prominently displayed on their website for a few

weeks now, and the WES announcement, could this be a change in how RIM will launch new devices in the future?

I am sure that I am not the only one waiting for this new device to hit the stores, so could it happen soon?

We have learned from the past that AT&T doesn’t start their training programs until a few weeks before launch. Seems the rumor is that the launch will be the last week of August or the first week of September.

My 8300 is shot, scratched lens, drool from my 10 month old son trying to eat it, numerous drops from waist high, and yet it still works perfectly. You really just can’t beat a BlackBerry when it comes to durability and the wireless synchronization it provides, especially when connected to our Hosted Microsoft Exchange and Hosted BlackBerry Enterprise Servers.

As you can see I’m super excited for this new device ( which I already have on order with RIM ).
SHIP IT ALREADY! :- )
